Message from the President:
Egbe Omo Yoruba Greater Chapter of New York (EOYGNY) is proud to host the Annual Yoruba Global Convention. The theme of this year’s convention; "Yoruba Nation Beyond 2011: Utilizing Synergy of Economic and Political Development of Yoruba Nation to Mobilizing Yoruba in Diaspora" is a reflection of the general consensus - it is time for a change. It is time for a change in the dismal condition of the roads, electricity supply, access to healthcare, education, unemployment, inflated cost of living, and the list goes on.
Our goal is to foster the sorts of Public - Private sector partnerships that have successfully spread prosperity to the majority of people residing in the United States. Our organization has direct access to over 100,000 Yoruba households across the US and Canada. With the right public - private partnerships in place, this critical mass of Yoruba people in the diaspora will have viable platforms that will allow them to contribute their skills and resources to the development and growth of the Nigerian economy.
Special guests will include governors, commissioners, and legislators from the Yoruba states. They will be joined in panel discussions that will engage elected New York City official, accomplished Yorubas from various fields in the diaspora, and representatives from a selection of government agencies. At the end of the day, the deliberations from the convention will form the basis for establishing the Public - Private sector partnerships that will increase prosperity for many Nigerians.
